On the eastern side of the site (furthest away from the Roman buildings excavated by Charles Daniels) a trench has revealed a spread of rubble thought to be of Roman date, delineated by a possible wall. This wall was bonded with a putty-like lime-based white substance that is thought to represent a waterproof membrane.
